Parking permit for people with reduced mobility (parking permit)

A parking permit allows you to park a motor vehicle:

  • In a parking space reserved for people with reduced mobility indicated by a public traffic sign
  • In a paid municipal parking space without paying a fee
  • In parking spaces with a signposted time limit from 30 minutes and upwards with up to double the time, with the exception of a signposted time limit in a specially designated space for disabled persons with a parking permit.
  • In places where residential zone parking has been introduced

Parking permits exempt from studded tire fees in cars where the driver or passenger carries a parking permit for disabled persons.

The parking permit is personal and only valid when the person to whom it is issued is in the vehicle, either as driver or passenger. The card must then be clearly visible in the windshield for inspection.

How to apply for a parking permit

To apply for a parking permit, you must meet these requirements:

You must have a medical certificate documenting that you are unable to walk or have great difficulty moving over long distances.

You must be able to document a special need for parking relief at your place of residence, work and/or in connection with regular and necessary activities.

An application with accompanying documentation and an updated medical certificate should be sent to Stavanger Parkeringsselskap KF.

About the award

Upon application, the municipality of residence will issue a parking permit for persons with reduced mobility to a driver or passenger who meets the conditions set out in the Regulations on parking permits for persons with reduced mobility section 3 a) or b).

The municipality of Stavanger, represented by Stavanger Parkering KF, will process the application and assess the special needs for parking relief as stated in the application and medical certificate.

Parking permits are primarily granted to those who, in addition to reduced walking ability, have documented a special need for parking relief at one or more specific locations where it is not possible to use the ordinary parking facilities. For example, this could be at their place of residence, work, doctor, hospital, treatment facilities or similar.
